Dora the Explorer

I think this show is great for kids who cant speak English but should not be put on Nick shows.Kids need to learn to speak proper English before they talk Spanish.

We live in America and have enough problems with children speaking English so lets not confuse them any farther. Its bad enough to go somewhere and have someone wait on you that cant speak English but now were raising kids that are going to be having trouble speaking both. My grandparents came from Germany and spoke German in the home and English in public because it is rude to speak other languages in public and I still believe that is true.

So people if you want to live in the USA learn our language and honor it..let our children learn to speak English well first

So don't watch the show, let the parents who want their children to learn Spanish watch the show.

Here's my two cents (not pesos) :grin

I agree that all foreigners should learn the language if they are coming to live here.It seems to me that Nick is using Dora to educate all americans no matter their heritage.

As an american I would not use Dora to educate my children in language skills. I would rather teach them on my own and make time for that. Parents who don't want to take the time to correctly educate their kids are leaving it up to television and the rest of the world to do this for them. Dora may be used by mexican or spanish immigrants to teach their children both languages.

You are assuming that Nick is only broadcasting to american-english speaking families. So what is the real issue here?

I note that you have some trouble with English yourself: "were raising kids" should be "we're raising kids".That said, we live in a big world.

Learning multiple languages not only expands our minds, but increases our opportunities in life. Most of the people in the world learn at least a couple languages.

I don't think Americans are inherently less intelligent than any other country, although we seem at times to aspire to that goal.Leave your xenophobia in the last century where it belongs.

Dora the explorer cup, is a very dangerous cup.Children should not be allowed to use it. My grand daughter ask for one, we got her one, they are the one with the liquid in the bottom of the cup,we warm paula some chocolate milk in the cup in the microeave ,warm not boil, she was about to take a sip all of a sudden the cup explored, she was taken to the hospital, mygrand daughter received 2nd 3rd degree burn all over her arm and stomach, this have been several months and the scars are still there. We can't find the maker of the cup,we have even called foreign country ,but to no avail, this is a degerous piece of trash and should be off the market.

Sorry your granddaughter got hurt but if the cup said do not put in microwave and you did it is you who cause the cup to be dangerous.

The cup is pertty safe for children so they should be allowed to use it. The true thing you should have wrote is "morons should not be allowed to supervise children"

Bahahahahha, what a dumb ***. She put a liquid-filled cup in the microwave and it blew-up all over that runt. Go back to your broken-down country ya filthy cow!

When adults don't follow instructions and an innocent child gets hurt, what is more shameful is the adult is blaming others, calling the cup a dangerous piece of trash when it is them that is dangerous. Safety people.

Don't even try this "experiment" Richard. The girl got badly burned and had to be hospitalized.

They say do not put in microwave for a reason. When the milk most likely was cold when she put it in the cup, then she warmed it in the microwave and it started to boil. The change from cold to hot, and the fact that this cup should not have been put in the microwave in the first place caused it to explode. The cup likely exploded 15 seconds after it was taken out of the microwave, however there is no set time when the cup would have exploded.

It could explode in your face right after you take the cup out of the microwave, or a few minutes after.

Not worth the risk to see "something cool" Best to donate it to a younger child than try any dangerous "experiences" on it.I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but as a parent I would not like if this happened to my four or ten year old sons, and I don't want to hear about another child getting hurt from doing something dangerous.

How do you make one of those cups explode.I had a Diego one when I was younger, and now I am eleven and too old for Diego and want to know how to explode one.

I mean I won't try to drink from it.I will just put it on the counter and watch it explode from far away.

It was obviously boiling hot. The person who is watching the child is an ***. If the glass said "*** proof" on the lable the grandmother can sue if it is not "*** proof" however since it is not *** proof, nor are they claming that it is "*** proof" grandmother has no case.

If the liquid was not boiling or too hot how did she get such bad burns? Poor chlid should not have to deal with an ignorant care giver.

I agree the cup is only dangerous if misused, and the cup was not supposed to be put in the microwave, it was put in the microwave so therefore it was misused. Not the companie's fault, but the person's fault for misusing the cup. If you had used it the proper way your daughter would not have received second and third degree burns, nor would she still have scars.

Wow I just feel sorry for the child who had to suffer because her caregiver did not check if the cup was safe to microwave before she put the cup in the microwave. The cup is only dangerous if one puts it in the microwave when it is not supposed to be put in the microwave.

The child's parents need to sue grandmother for not following instructions and causing an innocent child a lifetime of scars. They should not let Paula in her care unsupervised until she learns how to follow instructions.

Perhaps grandmother feels she does not need to follow instructions and unfortunately it the poor innocent granddaughter has to pay for it.To bad it did not explode oh granny.

My daughter had a few of those types of cups.Says on the package that the cups are not microwavable.

In english and spanish.

I hope the maker of the cup does not sue you for slander.

I think Paula should blame grandmother for the accident.Grandmother failed to read the instructions.

I have seen those cups and they are not microwave friendly. Blame yourself. Because of your neglience Paula was badly injured and will possibility be scarred for life. Take responsibility.

It is not the cup that is faulty it is the *** that did not read the instructions, an yes i am calling you an *** because of your stupidity a young innocent child got badly burned. Also your child would not be badly burned if it was just warmed up.

Obviously you boiled the milk.Admit your grandaugher is scarred possibly for life because of you.

Was it a microwavable cup.You have to be careful wtih heating things up in the mircowave.

It may seem warm on the outside, but the middle potion of the liquid can be hotter than the top.Sorry this happened to your grandaughter, and if it is faulty item hopefully they take it off soon.

Well if Paula's grandmother had read the instructions for the cup than this would not happen. Those cups say "do not put in microwave." Your own fault for ignoring the warnings, your own fault your granddaughter was badly burned.

Also she would not have received second and third degree burns if the chocolate milk was not boiling. If it was warm it would not have let her with burns.

I am sorry she has to suffer so much with your negliances.Instead of writing about how this is a piece of trash you (as much as you don't want to) need to own up to your mistakes and warn parents to follow the safety rules.
